What is Non-ECR Category in Passport?

Most of us do get confused when filling the passport form online/offline that what to select/fill in Non-ECR Category.

What is ECR?

ECR stands for Emigration Check Required, Non-ECR is also called ECNR (Emigration Check Not Required). Generally Non-ECR cateogry makes you eligible to do work/job whereas ECR cateogry is only for tourists who can travel all over the world but they cannot apply for any job until they falls under Non-ECR cateogry.

Non-ECR are falls under the cateogry of official and diplomatic passport holders.

A matriculation is enough to make you eligible for Non-ECR category else you can also show your degree or higher education certificates for the same.

Conclusion:- If you have passed High School then you have to tick on 'Yes' in Non-ECR cateogry otherwise 'No'.
